Four city parks recognised with the 'Green Flag Award'

The ‘Green Flag Award’, granted by the non-governmental organisation Keep Britain Tidy, has once again this year recognised four green spaces in the city of Porto: the City Park, Passeio Alegre Garden, Porto Botanical Garden, and the Palácio de Cristal Gardens.

The criteria for this award include indicators ranging from cleanliness, safety, and maintenance to biodiversity management and conservation, community involvement, landscape and cultural features, as well as the existence of an active management plan.

This year, 163 green spaces across nine countries were recognised: Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

Porto’s parks were first honoured by this initiative in 2019.
