The mission of Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto (FEP) is to promote knowledge in Economics and Management through education and research, to train responsible professionals and citizens capable of responding to the challenges of the economy and society, and to actively contribute to the progress of their communities. FEP stands out for the positive impact it generates and for its contribution to advancing the sustainable development agenda.

Climate action

For several years, FEP has been implementing sustainability measures, particularly in the area of climate action, including:

  • Integration of sustainability topics in education and research;
  • Partnerships to improve organizational practices (e.g., LIPOR);
  • Best Practices Guide for events;
  • Donation policy and participation in the ReBOOT Program (promoting the circular economy);
  • Installation of water dispensers and electric vehicle charging stations (in progress);
  • Partnership for the implementation and use of photovoltaic panels;
  • LED lighting in buildings and automatic water control in faucets;
  • Consumption monitoring and control, supported by signage in buildings;
  • Promotion of Green IT practices;
  • Tree planting and enhancement of green spaces;
  • Support for student-led initiatives and collaboration with U.Porto initiatives; among others.

The signing of the Porto Climate Pact reinforces our commitment to the environmental, social, and economic development of our city. We recognize the urgency to act now, uniting efforts and resources for sustainability in all areas of the faculty’s mission, and working to build a more sustainable and resilient future for all.
