Clube de Ténis do Porto

The Porto Tennis Club (CTP), founded in 1968, is a public utility institution recognized for its excellence in the practice and training of Tennis and Padel. Over its 55 years of existence, CTP has developed a significant social and sporting presence, earning a prestigious reputation not only in Porto but throughout Portugal. Today, CTP is the most decorated tennis club in the country, with a training and competition school averaging 400 students per year. Throughout its history, the club has trained a large number of athletes who have become national and international references. In addition to its sporting activities, CTP promotes a strong social engagement, bringing together 390 members who, along with the city, organize around 25 annual Tennis and Padel tournaments, as well as numerous events of recognized social interest.

Climate action

In recent years, Porto Tennis Club has taken significant steps toward sustainability and energy efficiency in its operations and facilities. One of the most recent and notable initiatives is the partnership with Greenvolt, a leading renewable energy company, which resulted in the creation of the “Porto Tennis Club Energy Community”. This initiative received its official license in March, and a 190,000 kWh photovoltaic park has been installed on the roofs of our covered courts. This system allows for self-consumption and the sale of excess energy to the surrounding community. Beyond the economic benefits, the club is now able to provide clean energy at a reduced price to 180 families within a 2km radius, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Through this initiative, Porto Tennis Club has taken another step toward becoming a reference not only in sports but also in innovation and environmental sustainability.

Testimony

The Porto Climate Pact is an initiative with which Porto Tennis Club fully identifies. Just as CTP has been and continues to be the most decorated tennis club in Portugal, it aims, through its adherence to the Climate Pact, to contribute within its means to ensure that the city of Porto can also lead the path toward carbon neutrality and climate action. The goal is to make Porto a national and international benchmark in this essential effort—one in which we must all take part.
