Climate action

The ESG dimensions have become increasingly central in the NOS strategy, being reflected in the measures implemented by the Company in the context of climate action. 

NOS is one of four Portuguese companies that has seen its emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the international organisation that assesses and approves reduction targets for the business sector, in line with climate science. 

These targets include, by 2030, the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 90% in its operation, and 30% in the value chain, compared to 2019.

100% of the electricity required for NOS operations has come from renewable sources since the beginning of 2022, and the total electrification of its fleet is underway. To offset the emissions that it still cannot avoid in its fleet, NOS is carrying out a reforestation project in areas of the interior of the country devastated by fires.
