ICBAS is a Constituent Entity of the University of Porto (U.Porto), structured as a university school dedicated to education, research, and community service. It has positioned itself as a cross-disciplinary school in the life and health sciences, centered around the “One Health” concept.
Climate action
Best practices implemented include:
- Efficient use of the complex to reduce energy resource consumption.
- Effective waste management, aiming to minimize the amount of non-recyclable waste.
- Promotion of initiatives to obtain the “Green Heart” Certification from Lipor.
Testimony
The Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) of Porto University allows for the training of students with a holistic perspective of health (human/animal/environment interface – Uma Saúde – One Health concept). It furthers, together with other entities, interdisciplinary and synergistic research, contributing to the articulation of a technical and adaptive response to current and complex health problems.
