Climate action

UPTEC is committed to the principles of sustainability and the fight against climate change. As part of its mission to promote entrepreneurship, UPTEC has promoted the growth of startups dedicated to the development of innovative solutions for building more sustainable societies. Additionally, UPTEC has co-organised, with LIPOR, Smart Waste Portugal, and the Portuguese Plastics Pact, Climatelaunchpad, the largest, cleantech business idea competition in the world. 

The commitment to more environmentally sustainable behaviours is also verified in the implementation of the Dose Certa project (reduction of food waste), and in the hosting of AMAP’s local food distribution initiatives. In order to encourage companies to adopt recycling habits, we have placed EcoPoints in offices and common spaces of buildings. The recycling of electrical and electronic equipment also concerns UPTEC and, therefore, we are collection partners of ERP Portugal and Recycle Geeks, an initiative that repairs end-of-life computers for resale, with donation of profits to IPSSs.
