CPSA – Conselho Português para a Saúde e Ambiente (Portuguese Council for Health and Environment)

Climate action

The increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events related to climate change is a threat to the Health and Well-Being of populations.

The Portuguese Council for Health and Environment (CPSA) aims to intervene in issues related to the climate crisis and environmental degradation and its impact on health, advocate for the reduction of the health sector’s ecological footprint, and empower the health system to address epidemiological challenges and unexpected events arising from climate change and environmental impacts. CPSA advocates for and supports actions that reduce the impact of environmental change, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution in general, water quality, food security, and biodiversity loss.

CSPA joins the Porto Climate Pact because of the urgency of the issues addressed, and aims to contribute to the type of response and preparedness appropriate to climate change.
