STCP is the main public road transport operator in the Porto Metropolitan Area, serving six municipalities with a modern and sustainable fleet that supports urban mobility and carbon neutrality. With around 1,300 employees, STCP operates a fleet of 444 buses and transports over 70 million passengers each year.
Climate action
STCP has been actively working on replacing its diesel fleet. Currently, the fleet totals 444 buses, of which 75% (332 vehicles) run on compressed natural gas, 15% (68 vehicles) are electric, and 10% (54 vehicles) are still diesel-powered. Of the gas used, 30% already comes from biomethane. Our vision is clear: to fully eliminate diesel vehicles by 2027 and, by 2028, to operate a fleet composed of 60% natural gas and 40% electric vehicles.
Testimony
With over 150 years of history, STCP has been a pioneer in transforming the city’s mobility. Leading the energy transition is a natural step forward—joining this Pact is a continuation of that path and a reaffirmation of our commitment to a sustainable future for Porto.
