Climate action

Climate change requires collective, simultaneous, and integrated action by the entire society. CHUSJ is actively aware of the impact on society, so it has made important contributions through actions such as:

  • Electric bicycle and bicycle park for employees;
  • Electric cars for the Hospital-at-home team;
  • Reduction of paper consumption through digitisation/implementation of paper-free processes;
  • Use of reusable personal protective equipment;
  • Promotion of public supply water consumption; 
  • Centralised Technical Management of air conditioning, lighting, and electrical monitoring of the hospital building;
  • Natural gas trigeneration and thermal recovery plant through absorption chillers, allowing for the production of cold water, hot water, and steam;
  • Replacement of roofs with a high level of thermal insulation;
  • Replacement of window frames with double glazing system and thermal control;
  • Installation of low-energy consumption systems;
  • Installation of lighting system with integrated energy management;
  • Use of photovoltaic panels;
  • Promotion of sustainable mobility through electric minibuses.

Testimony

We believe that, with the commitment made in the field of health, we can contribute to the common cause of the City of Porto and the sustainability of the planet.

The biggest health challenge is climate change.
